We’re here to make finding trusted childcare on Nantucket simple, safe, and stress-free. Our experienced, CPR certified sitters provide compassionate, reliable care tailored to your family’s needs, so you can relax and focus on what matters most, knowing your little ones are well cared for, no matter how long you're here.

All bookings require a four-hour minimum and are designed to provide a consistent, high-quality experience whether it’s your first visit or your fifth.
Mother's Helper
Our Mother’s Helper service is perfect for families who need an extra set of hands while a parent or guardian is still at home. Whether you're working remotely, caring for a newborn, or just need help juggling the day, we’re here to make things smoother and more manageable.

Application
We’re looking for experienced, trustworthy sitters to join our team and help us provide exceptional care to families across Nantucket.

Start by filling out our quick application to learn more about what you’re looking for and begin the process of finding the right fit. Once we receive your request, a member of our team will reach out directly to confirm the details about your family’s needs.

Let Us Do the Work
From there, we take care of the rest. Our sitters go through a detailed application, interview, and vetting process, including background checks and CPR certification, so you can feel confident that every sitter we work with meets our high standards.

Once we understand your preferences, schedule, and comfort level, we’ll personally match you with a sitter who fits your family. We’re committed to thoughtful, reliable placements that give you peace of mind from the very first visit.
Our Pricing
Hourly Pay

1-2 kids: $30/hr

3 kids: $35/hr

6+ kids: Dependent on number of sitters
Placement Fee

Sitter: $40

Full week placement: $160 (5+days)

Full refund if sitter cancels and we can’t find a replacement
*No additional charge for different destinations on Nantucket

*Cancellation Fee: 50% if canceled within 12 hours. 50% will go directly to the sitter and we will be keeping the placement fee.
*Last Minute Bookings Fee: an additional $20 will be applied to bookings within 48 hours.

*Additional $10 for the following peak weekends:
Daffy, Memorial weekend, 4th of July, Boston Pops, Stroll, Summer Groove, Dreamland Fundraiser, Dragonfly Fundraiser.

*More than 4 children may require two babysitters, at TBS discretion.

1 / Are your sitters background checked?
Yes! All sitters of age undergo a CORI background check and/or thorough reference checks. Each applicant also completes a comprehensive application and participates in an interview with one or more of our founders.
2 / Are your sitters CPR-certified?
Yes, it is mandatory for all sitters to be CPR certified before accepting any bookings.
3 / Do you offer nannying services?
No, The Babysitting Service is a babysitting agency only. We do not offer long-term nanny placements.
4 / Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes. Cancellations made without proper notice will result in a 50% charge. If no communication is made to cancel, the full amount (100%) will be charged. If a sitter cancels and a replacement cannot be provided, families will receive a 100% refund.
5 / Is there a minimum booking requirement?
Yes, all bookings require a minimum commitment of 4 hours.
5 / Can I book a sitter for the full week? How much does that cost?
Yes! A full-week placement (5+days) is available for $160.
5 / Can I interview the babysitter ahead of time?
If you would like to connect with the sitter ahead of time, please email us and we
will connect you. Sitters will reach out to families two days ahead of job start time
to confirm.
5 / What does your background check include?
All our sitters are properly vetted by our founders. They will be background/CORI check (if applicable), thoroughly reference checked, and checked on the sex offender registry.
